The Vision: All air conditioners and heat pumps will be solar hybrid in the future such that they run with the sun during the day, and using grid power, and/or stored solar power, at nighttime.
About us: Airspool is a 3.5-year old startup located in downtown Las Vegas growing at a rate of 600%. Check out airspool.com and shop.airspool.com. Hundreds of people who never used solar power before are now running our units.
About you: Ideally, you have an interest in, and experience with, power electronics, Internet of Things microprocessor programming, and battery storage. And, you’re interested in and believe in solar’s potential. Finally, you understand how to plan your work, work your plan, communicate your achievements, and complete tasks.
The road ahead
We have a good handle on 12,000 BTU mini split solar hybrid heat pumps. But the future is so much bigger! And our overseas partners are not pursuing it fast enough. So, we need your help to learn how our units work now, and then us this knowledge to build different units, like a recreational vehicle unit and larger rooftop units. So, that’s the main mission. Time permitting, and if you’re interested, we also need to store the extra power from the solar panels into batteries in the fall and sprint when there’s less of a calling for air conditioning or heating. Finally, we have an IOT app through a company called Tuya. We want you learn more about how this work and potentially build a very simple IOT program which can be used instead of Tuya’s, and later, figure out how to update the Tuya program such that it serves us and our users better.
Hours: 10+ hours/week. Flexible on how, when, and where you want to work. Some work will happen at 611 N. Main St., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
