Better Future Project (BFP) is hiring one paid intern for the Spring 2024 semester to support our Make Polluters Pay (MPP) campaign and our broader grassroots, climate justice organization. This internship position is in partnership with the Mass Clean Energy Center’s Clean Energy Internship Program.
In order to be eligible for either internship, you must:
- Currently attend a college/university in Massachusetts and have already completed at least one semester
- OR Have been a college student in the last year and can provide current proof of current residency in Massachusetts.
- Undergraduates must have completed 24 credits to qualify. Please take note if you are a first-year student.

Compensation: $16/hour
Hours: Part time, flexible (20 hours a week)
Start: Flexible, after January 1, 2024
End: Flexible, up until May 15, 2024
Location: Hybrid, including virtual work and some in person work at the Dojo at Somernova, 15 Properzi Way, Somerville, MA 02143
Internship Description
The MPP Organizing Intern will play a leading role in the BFP’s community engagement strategy. They will be asked to attend and provide support at tabling events, community forums, and coalition meetings by:
- Preparing educational materials
- Organizing and co-leading community forums alongside coalition partners
- Engaging with Massachusetts residents
- Managing BFP communications including our website, Google Group, and social media platforms
The Organizing Intern will also contribute towards BFP’s program development by:
- Participating in staff meetings
- Conducting research on climate impacts in Massachusetts
- Coordinating communication strategy across BFP’s other programs
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Strong writing and communications skills
- Demonstrated interest in environmental justice, climate justice, racial justice, and/or other social justice issues
- Experience with social media and digital outreach (especially Twitter and Instagram)
- Experience and/or interest in community engagement and organizing
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency with Zoom, Slack, Google Apps and associated applications
