Editorial interns will work directly with Modern Luxury’s managing editor and gain invaluable experience producing cutting-edge content for Modern Luxury’s publications in multiple markets, including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Las Vegas.
This is a completely hands-on and intensive internship that requires a thorough understanding of magazine and editorial writing, the ability to multitask and a can-do attitude. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to: fact-checking, story research, pitching, writing (print writing and online), proofreading for AP style, outreach and SEO/website management.
Interns with exceptional writing skills will cover luxury culture, fashion, dining and philanthropy scenes. Interns are an extension of the editorial team—only those who have the ability to take on the internship in a serious, professional and dedicated manner should apply. Class credit is required for this internship with no exceptions given. Interns must be available to work 4+ hours (between the office hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m.) for a minimum 2-3 days per week in the fall semester/quarter. Note that this is a non-paid internship and is remote.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interning at Modern Luxury is a collaborative opportunity to work closely with industry professionals in your chosen market (note: this is for Southern California Markets and Las Vegas). You will work under the supervision of a managing editor who will guide your assignments and train you along the way. Interns will leave with multiple bylines in four different publications as well as digital stories on our websites, along with knowledge of online uploading/coding, social media experience, writing and editing expertise, fact-checking skills and a close look at new-age journalism.
-Reporting to your managing editor during your selected work days (2-3x per week)
-Crafting stories for our publications with a creative spin while remaining professional
-Editing and proofreading all of your work
-Reaching out to PR contacts for fact-checking and image call-in requests
-Attending editorial forums held virtually by Modern Luxury staff
-Learning about online uploading and editing and trying it for yourself
-Researching timely events and happenings in your particular markets
