NPI Internship Program Disclaimer:
Please note that internship postings offered through the Neon Pacific Initiative (NPI) program are prioritized for students who are already part of the cohort. To be eligible for NPI, students must be in good academic standing (2.0+ GPA) and commit to completing 120 hours at pre-approved internship sites. Additionally, participation in the NPI internship program requires attending monthly cohort meetings and completing COLA 402. For more details, please refer to the NPI internship overview here. You will be eligible for a $2500 stipend for completing your 120 hours at the internship site.
As this is an NPI internship, the application deadline will be earlier than other job postings for the UNLV COLA Internship Program. The firm closing date for this opportunity is November 7, 2025.
About Nevada Humanities:
Nevada Humanities is one of 56 independent, nonprofit state and territorial humanities councils that partner with the National Endowment for the Humanities – we are Nevada’s state humanities council partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Nevada Humanities produces and supports humanities-based educational and cultural programs that articulate the Nevada experience, feature local culture and heritage, and facilitate the investigation of ideas that matter to the people of Nevada and their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Brainstorm and produce at least one public program/semester in collaboration with Nevada Humanities staff connected to the Neon Pacific Initiative, highlighting AAPI placemaking, stories, and culture in southern Nevada
- Attend regular meetings and communicate (phone, email, video calls, in-person) with Nevada Humanities staff and program partners
- Sustain ongoing programming and partnerships with AAPI organizations in Nevada
- Develop new partnerships with AAPI communities and organizations in Nevada
- Ensure programming and communications align with the mission of Nevada Humanities and the goals of the Neon Pacific Initiative
- Assist with writing and editing social media and website content as needed
- Assist with documenting events and programs (film, video, photography, etc.) for use on Nevada Humanities social media platforms, websites, and other mediums as needed
- Evaluate programs as needed (creating and distributing audience surveys; soliciting, compiling, collecting, and analyzing data)
- Attend Nevada Humanities organized events in southern Nevada, when connected to AAPI public programming, with some travel required. This may also include setting up and taking down program needs/equipment at program sites.
Teaching Objectives:
Interns placed at this position will learn:
- The value of the humanities and the power of the humanities in everyday life.
- How to interface with professional staff in a professional setting.
- Project development including budget development, project planning, project implementation, marketing, and project evaluation.
- How to identify, seek, develop, and nurture partnerships with a diverse group of organizations and people.
- Nonprofit management and leadership skills.
- An appreciation of Nevadan history, and the importance of storytelling and the humanities in everyday life.

This internship is part of the College of Liberal Arts Internship Program and includes the required enrollment in COLA 402, the Career and Professional Development course. COLA 402 plays a vital role in your professional growth, providing you with key skills and strategies for your career. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to test out a career or setting that you may want to pursue professionally, build your confidence, grow your skill sets, expand your network, and add valuable experience to your resume or CV. Additionally, you may have the chance to earn a scholarship! Depending on your completed credits and prior enrollment, your course plan for COLA 402 may be adjusted. - Currently enrolled as a Liberal Arts major
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Completed 60 credits (at time of internship)
- CBRI Only: Completed at least one research methods course (at time of application)
After hiring…
- Enrollment in COLA 402
- 120 hours per semester
- Monthly surveys
