About Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD):
MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) actively works to prevent underage drinking and impaired driving. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, MADD aims to protect young lives and create safer roads. MADD’s mission is to end drunk driving, fight drugged driving, support victims of DUI’s and prevent underage drinking.
Internship Role Title:
Underage Prevention Program Intern
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. Understanding MADD’s Mission: Ensure the intern comprehends MADD’s mission, values, and goals related to preventing drunk driving and supporting victims.
- 2. Community Outreach and Education: Teach the intern how to engage with local communities, schools, and organizations to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.
- 3. Event Planning and Execution: Provide guidance on organizing events, workshops, and campaigns related to alcohol awareness, victim support, and underage prevention.
- 4. Data Collection and Analysis: Train the intern in collecting relevant data (e.g., statistics on impaired driving incidents) and analyzing it to inform MADD’s initiatives.
- 5. Advocacy and Legislative Efforts: Educate the intern about advocating for stronger DUI laws, promoting policy changes, and participating in legislative activities.
- 6. Volunteer Management: Teach effective volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination techniques to enhance community involvement.
- 7. Public Speaking and Presentation Skills: Help the intern develop confidence in delivering impactful presentations on MADD’s mission and initiatives.
- 8. Collaboration and Networking: Encourage the intern to build relationships with other organizations, law enforcement, and community leaders to strengthen MADD’s impact.

This internship is part of the College of Liberal Arts Internship Program and includes the required enrollment in COLA 402, the Career and Professional Development course. COLA 402 plays a vital role in your professional growth, providing you with key skills and strategies for your career. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to test out a career or setting that you may want to pursue professionally, build your confidence, grow your skill sets, expand your network, and add valuable experience to your resume or CV. Additionally, you may have the chance to earn a scholarship! Depending on your completed credits and prior enrollment, your course plan for COLA 402 may be adjusted. Before hiring…
- Currently enrolled as a Liberal Arts major
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Completed 60 credits (at time of internship)
- CBRI Only: Completed at least one research methods course (at time of application)
After hiring…
- Enrollment in COLA 402
- 120 hours per semester
- Monthly surveys
