BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: Currently enrolled in college and planning to return to school for Fall 2026.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, and grammar skills; interpersonal relations and communicative skills; ability to work independently and with others; ability to organize and prioritize tasks and to work closely with others. Proficient typing and PC skills; excellent customer service skills; curious and enjoy independent or team projects.
Experience: Previous experience in a social service setting through prior work or internship.
Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 30 lbs.
Key Responsibilities/Engagement
- Support & Research: Conduct research, capture data, and prepare reports/presentations to support team goals.
- Operational Assistance: Perform administrative tasks, including organizing documents, taking meeting notes, and answering inquiries.
- Project Participation: Assist with the planning and implementation of projects or events.
- Content/social media: Assist in updating website content or managing social media accounts.
- Skill Development: Engage in training sessions, attend meetings, and work with mentors to enhance industry skills.
Essential Duties
Performs a variety of duties at Nevada HAND (Including but not limited to):
Real Estate Development
- Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) review (Used to define how the Low-Income Housing Tax
- Credits (LIHTC) are distributed to developers for affordable housing projects
- Provide support on zoning and entitlement applications
Corporate Affairs
- Annual fundraising event planning and support
- Donor analysis and engagement
- Marketing support
- External messaging support
Asset Management
- Provide support on questions and requests from investors/ lenders
- Learn about and provide support on proforma development with Real Estate
- Development (RED) and Hand Property Management (HPM)
- Assist with the management of the physical health of the portfolio
Resident Services
- Create and offer programs and activities that encourage social engagement
- Intentional about assisting with overall physical, mental, and social well-being through creative projects
- Create economic stability through financial literacy programs and training
- Assist with programs and activities that promote educational attainment and more

HONORS COLLEGE INTERNSHIPS PROGRAM POLICIES
For both paid and unpaid HON 395 internships, students apply for the position directly through the organization that is hosting the internship. If students secure a paid internship but also need to take a corresponding internship course that is for-credit, please contact the Program Coordinator to discuss viable options. No international internships.
To be eligible for HON 395, active UNLV Honors College students must be at least 18 years old, at sophomore standing or higher (at least 30 credits earned), and hold a GPA of 3.3 or higher. To enroll, students must gain consent of the HC Internship Program Coordinator by following the 5-step application process outlined at: unlv.edu/honors/internships
