Job Title: Resident Services Relocation Specialist Intern

SUMMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Resident Relocation Intern will support the Resident Services team with relocation efforts for residents impacted by community redevelopment, rehabilitation, or construction projects. This role provides hands-on experience in community engagement, social services, and housing operations. The intern will assist with resident communication, coordination of relocation activities, and administrative support to ensure a smooth and positive transition for Nevada HAND residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND WORK DUTIES:
The Resident Relocation Intern fulfills the following essential functions under the direction of the VP of Resident Services and in collaboration with other NHI staff, HAND Property Management, residents, and collaborative partner organizations.
- Work closely with Resident Services, HAND Property Management, Project Managers, Property Managers, and site management staff to communicate the relocation plans and strategies to residents of communities undergoing improvement projects. 50%
- Assist with planning and executing relocation activities in accordance with the individual needs of residents of affected properties, including assisting with arranging temporary or permanent housing, transportation assistance, and other relocation benefits. 20%
- Assist with working with moving companies and vendors to minimize damage during all moving sessions; track, verify, and participate in resolving damage claims; work with site staff to coordinate pest control inspections of all households and coordinate treatment when necessary. 10%
- Provide other assistance and administrative support to the Relocation Specialist and team, site management, construction contractors, and residents. 10%
- Assist with outreach to residents, including distributing notices and supporting community meetings. Participate in door-to-door engagement and resident surveys to assess needs 10%
Other Duties – from time to time, may be determined necessary for the well-being of the total operation 5%

- Develop skills in community outreach, communication, and problem-solving
- Build experience in program coordination and case support

QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field
- Interest in community development, affordable housing, or social services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar programs)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism
- Willingness to learn and work in a team-oriented environment
Logistics:
- Home Office and/or property specific. Part-time $17-20

If students secure a paid internship but also need to take a corresponding internship course that is for-credit, please contact the Program Coordinator to discuss viable options. No international internships.
- To be eligible for HON 395, active UNLV Honors College students must be at least 18 years old, at sophomore standing or higher (at least 30 credits earned), and hold a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
