The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) is the local public health agency in Clark County. The mission of the Southern Nevada Health District is, “To assess, protect and promote the health, the environment and the well-being of Southern Nevada communities and visitors.”
The Health District offers services and provides regulatory supervision that impacts the public every day – from the food they eat and the water they drink, to the public establishments they visit, the businesses they operate, and the requirements they must meet to work in certain industries, such as food service and child care.
Our internship opportunities vary each semester but focus on the 10 essential public health services and can include surveillance, data collection, project implementation, evaluation, and advocacy efforts.

It depends on the internship opportunity. An example from Spring 2026 is a health equity intern who will collect and analyze data and create a report about our health equity efforts.
Required Skills and Knowledge Base:
Excellent written and verbal skills, interest in public health, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and Microsoft Office proficiency. Basic graphic design skills are a plus.
