Duration: Up to 12 Months
Overview: The Grant Writer is under the tutelage and works closely with external grant consultant(s). The internship offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to join our team, provides valuable hands-on experience in researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from various grant-making organizations. The successful candidate will have a passion for our organization’s mission, make significant contributions to achieve our project goals and objectives while learning essential and critical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Research grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources to identify potential funding opportunities.
- Write clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals that effectively communicate our organization’s mission, programs, and objectives.
- Collaborate with other members of our team, gather information and data necessary for grant proposals, prepare supporting documents including budgets, project timelines, and impact assessment to accompany grant proposal.
- Manage the grant application process, including completing application forms, submitting proposals, and following up with grantors as needed. Provide status updates to the organization periodically.
- Maintain accurate records of grant activities, including tracking submissions, responses, and funding outcome.
- Monitor and evaluate grant-funded projects to ensure compliance with grant requirements and prepare progress reports to grantor as needed.
- Ensure grant proposal drafts are vetted and approved by Derek and Consultant prior to submission.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (Junior, Senior) or Master’s degree program in Communication, English, Business Management, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to details and accuracy.
- Creative thinker, self-motivated, self-directed, and eager to learn and explore.
- Enthusiasm for learning about grant writing, fundraising and the non-profit sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Positive attitude, strong work ethics, and willingness to take on new challenges.
- Passion for our organization’s mission and commitment to making a positive impact in our community.
