CINEFEMMES is a UNLV student organization founded by femme filmmakers with the goal of creating and developing a space of support for all filmmakers, both working and aspiring.
The mission of CINEFEMMES at its core is to provide guidance, knowledge, opportunity, support, and inspiration to the UNLV Film community, and to serve filmmakers as a bridge to opportunities. CINEFEMMES was created with the express purpose of assisting filmmakers in forging lasting relationships that can lead to future collaborations and participation in local and out-of-state filmmaking communities.
CINEFEMMES hosts a variety of events, including trivia nights, film screenings, community mixers, and presentations from guest speakers who have found success within the film industry and want to inspire and educate filmmakers with their stories. Furthermore, in 2012, CINEFEMMES created the Femme Award for Best Female Filmmaker, which is presented at UNLV’s student annual film festival, Spring Flicks.
