First-Generation College Graduate and/or Low-Income in Medicine

Student Associations or Clubs

The First-Generation College Graduate and/or Low Income in Medicine (FGLI-Med) Student Organization at the UNLV School of Medicine is a collective organization of medical students who aim to advocate for students in medicine who are first-generation college graduates and/or from low-income backgrounds. These students are traditionally underrepresented in medicine and face unique challenges in their pursuit of practicing medicine. We are a support system, a networking collective, and a mentoring group. Our mission is to increase the number of FGLI students who successfully develop a career in medicine, and to provide resources and networking opportunities that will foster collegial relationships between physicians, medical trainees and pre-medical students.
