Welcome to the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at UNLV!
At SHPE de UNLV, we are dedicated to elevating your leadership and professional skills to the next level. We accomplish this by holding professional development workshops, hosting monthly general body meetings, attending bi-annual leadership conferences, and engaging in community service events and fundraisers through the UNLV Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering.
SHPE is a national organization consisting of student-led chapters spread over seven regions around the country, as UNLV belongs to Region 2. Our vision is to create a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers, although you DON’T need to be Hispanic or an engineering major to join! We welcome all backgrounds, both ethnically and academically, because having sharp soft skills can truly open doors for you in any industry.
If you are interested in registering as an official member of SHPE, you can sign up online at shpeconnect.org. SHPE Connect is the central portal for SHPE members to renew their membership, register for conferences, apply for a variety of scholarships, and access the official SHPE Career Center to receive information about internships and full-time jobs! Our officer team is glad to guide you through the process of registering to become a SHPE member. If you have any questions, please contact our President, Jasmin Paniagua-Martinez, at paniaj2@unlv.nevada.edu or Secretary, Yoali Terrones, at terroy1@unlv.nevada.edu.
We hope you’ll consider joining SHPE for the 2021-2022 academic year. To learn more about our current events, we will be actively updating our Involvement Center Events and News pages with upcoming events, and you can also visit our official website at shpe.unlv.edu to learn more about our team and chapter objectives!
