The intersectionality that is being a woman of color is often under served in conversations of both race and gender. The experience of being a Womxn of Color is often described as having to choose between one’s own femininity and culture, but few are able to express both simultaneously. The pressure to uphold societal standards of what it means to be a woman as well as maintain one’s cultural standards of womanhood is a paradigm that Womxn of Color live through every day. Therefore offering spaces that affirm that being a Womxn of Color is enough increases the success of women of color on our campus.
